1700 views

Today I got exactly 1700 views on my blog! which probably isn't much considering how long it's been up but it's still neat... i thought.  Anyway some stuff I've worked on and some ppl will be receiving soon-ish i hope. voila...

Long overdue post!  Sorry everyone, I didn't die.  I've just been rather busy the last many months or at least since I last posted.  Here's what's up:

Got a job!  I'm photographing Botany specimens for the Field Museum full time now!

I also have new pet bugs but you can see more of em on my Instagram.  i think my instagram user name is like danielmtle or something like that i think.... a lot of day to day activity gets shoved onto that so you'll probably see more bugs, more music related, and more random photos on that! i'm not opposed to stalkers on instagram

An itsy bitsy look at things to come

First off I'd like to apologize for the lack of updates.  It's been a busy few months.  On top of Gold Coast, I'm juggling a new employment opportunity, and moving right before a much-needed vacation.  With that said,  here are glass plates I plan to sell at Gold Coast.  They are 8x10in.  These are images taken at the field museum of their members night collection.  A small sneak peak of new work.

GOLD COAST THIS WEEKEND!!!! I have more new work that includes this.  It's ALL DAY Sat. and Sun. and will be lotsa fun!  I'd like to see you all!  It's behind the Art Institute in Grant Park and will feature 550 some artists.  Music and Food will be around too so make a day of it!

Ghosty Mantids

I got these awesome praying mantids today! They're Ghost Mantids and right now must be about 1/2 an inch.  Expect A LOT of images coming soon on these guys!  Consider this the bug of the year for me but i did get more cecropias again this summer jus cuz i like em so much.  So I apologize to anyone that went to that gallery show a month or so ago and expected to see my work up... things kind of fell apart soon before the show went up.  But I will be in the Gold Coast Art Fair at the end of the month in Grant Park! This I am absolutely sure.  Have so much work ready and so much to do before then too.  I have a few projects that need need need to be finished for that.  Hope to see you all there.  Also I'd like to add that my website is pretty finished as it is.  And then it will just be up to me to put in more up to date projects and works.  It only has work that's more than a year old right now and there's been a lot since then.  So check it out at www.DanielMTLe.com

On the WEB and upcoming show!

I would just like to say that while my website still isn't completely done, that it is viewable and working! I just need to add more artwork that should be on there and write project explanations as well as tidy up my resume/artist statement.  With that said thanks for everyone's patience who's been waiting to see it up!  Jack Koo did a fantastic job on it and totally just volunteered to do it for me! Also I would like to say that I will definitely be in Next Sat.'s show at Las Manos Gallery in Andersonville.  This will be my first outside of campus/school show and I'm very excited about it! It's a group show for upcoming Chicago Artists so I imagine it will all be great!  I'm showing my latest work from my BFA thesis show.  Here's a link:

Last but not least, being home was a blast! The high school kids were great and surprisingly interested in the things i had to say about Contemporary Art!  I don't have pictures from actually being at the school but I do have a very large project I'm currently working on... actually make that two possibly three big projects that I'm working on that will hopefully be done by the time Gold Coast rolls around.  Which I also hope to be attending but won't know for sure for about another week.  But I'll keep this blog updated for things of that nature.

Oh yea.  I"M GRADUATING IN A WEEK!!! and then i'll need a job.  So anyone who's reading this, in the chicago area, and needs a photographer/science illustrator, bring me into your life! (by paying me money to do the things that i do [for you])

Youth Show and Show for Youths.... I s'pose

Looks as though I'll be exhibiting my latest works at Las Manos gallery in their upcoming Youth Show! The opening for that is May 12th.  The night before my graduation! So I hope to see a lot of familiar faces as well as new ones.

I'd also like to apologize to everyone who's been trying to see my official website.  I thought it'd be up by last Mon. but it isn't.  My friend, Jack Koo, is doing an amazing job helping me with that but as things go, we're taking longer than expected.  But it should be up soon.  And it will be amazing!  When it goes up, it won't be a completely finished portfolio but over time I'll be updating and adding work to it.  So be on the look out!

Last but not least I'm going home to work with HS students for a few days starting on Mon. through Wed.    So I'll try to get some images and posts about that.  It should be a lot of fun!

Art Sale done

Art Sale was a success! Thank you everyone that came and supported the artists including friends and family that helped boost morale!  As I understand it was a really small turn out compared to usual and it was difficult for a lot of the artists there this weekend.  I have a lot of stuff left so if anyone wants any artwork just holla! I'm also going to try to participate in Gold Coast Art Fair but am unsure but will keep everyone posted on it.  If i do, I'll definitely have new work so be on the look out for that!  I already have a project ready. It just needs to be edited and printed.

Pre Art Sale stuffs

So SPRING ART SALE is in a few hours and i'm just getting last minute things done... but everyone should go if they can.  Also gonna post another collage i did this past week, and also note i've been thinking about sheet music as language and art. I've been enamored with Frederick Sommer's sheet music drawings and the idea that musicians can attempt to interpret it.  It's gorgeous and blows my mind! so on to art sale... I'm going to have prints from my BFA piece and i suspect that chances to get anything related to my glass plate projects/practice will be few and far between... but i can't see into the future and have yet to decide how to approach it... I won't be selling my actual BFA glass plates though.  so.... go to the sale.

BFA great success!

I just want to say thanks to everyone that made it to the opening! If you didn't, it's totally alright because it will be up for a couple weeks so check it out! A lot of really great art this year! Here's some images from mine for anyone that won't be able to make it though! enjoy.

BFA madness

So there's this thing called the BFA. And it's been killing me this month.  And I'm almost done with setting everything up. But the hard part is over.  Which is why i'm posting. an invitation and pic. SO I IMPLORE YOU TO COME!
