A whole year out of school and then some...

So here's an update on some stuff that's happened in the last few months.  Lots of projects still in the works... but with my day job, I have little time and energy to spend meaningful time on them.  Anyway here's some of what I've worked on.

First things first.  I'm going to be in a group show this weekend!  It'll consist of a handful of us SAIC alum that work/volunteer at the Field Museum! That glass plate chrysalis project I posted months ago is finally getting some air.  Nov. 2nd at the Gallery Warehouse, 6pm-8pm. 606 Dempster, Evanston, IL, 60201. I should mention that the Field Museum has no affiliation with this show and had no part in helping create the this show.

So every year this roller blading contest happens in Chicago.  It happens sort of guerrilla style and bladers from all over the US show up to compete and/or spectate.  Hopefully we don't hit any innocent bystanders or get kicked out of a spot by cops or security guards.  This year was my first time spectating so I took some pics on film and somehow managed to get them published on the One Blade Mag article about the event.  Check it all out at the link below!

About a month ago I was asked by Steve Clawson, a student at Beloit and head of the Geology Club, to take photos of part of the Beloit Geology Department's collection.  I joined them on a collecting trip and spent the rest of the day photographing specimens from the La Brea Tar Pits.  Below are a Smilodon, Sabertooth Cat, skull (view from the bottom and Lateral view).

Lastly some images from last week, I took a few pictures for a calendar contest.

And Classic Rock Ensues

I'm a little upset this wasn't finished sooner.... but atleast I'm doing things to keep my portfolio goin strong.  Going to try to have prints to sell because I'm not reprinting anything from here on out (as far as glass plate photos of chrysalises go).

above are the glass plates scanned and below are plates framed and as they are going to appear at any potential shows.

So in one of my last updates i showed some kind of teaser of a project.  Well now I'm done with 30 ish glass plate photographs of chrysalises from the Nature Museum in Lincoln Park.  I'm working on trying to have a show there but probably not for a few months at the very least.  I'll definitely post about it as soon as i have more info on it.  Anyone who doesn't know what a chrysalis is, it is the form caterpillars take during the transformation into a butterfly.  that's the short of it but its a complex process that leaves the little guys pretty vulnerable for a considerable amount of time.  maybe i'll do a book of prints... dunno.

also some other stuff i've been messing with in recent past:
